Autumn Decorating: DIY Garland

Here's a fun and easy DIY craft that's sure to be the conversation piece of your party or home.

What you will need:
freshly fallen autumn leaves
yarn
a hot glue gun
scissors

Instructions:
First, you need to decide how long you want your garland to be. The longer the garland, the more leaves you will need to collect.

Venture outside and collect as many different colors, sizes, and shapes of leaves as possible. This is a great way to get kids involved. Once you have enough leaves, bring them inside.

Lay out your yarn, and leave plenty of extra string on the end for tying. Place a dot of hot glue on the back of a leaf at the base of the stem, and attach the leaf to the yarn. Repeat this process until all of your leaves are strung on the yarn. Try alternating between colors and sizes for more contrast.

Once your garland is finished, cut the end of the yarn leaving excess like the beginning for hanging. Now you are ready to decorate with your beautiful new garland! :)

Because fallen leaves tend to dry up and crumple, the life span of your garland may only be for a couple days. Be sure to make it right before you have guests over so everyone can enjoy it!
